FAQs:

How long does botox last?

Depending on the dose, botox lasts on average 3-4 months. In order to continue to enjoy the benefits of perfectly placed botox, maintenance treatments are required on an almost quarterly interval.

Does botox really work to prevent wrinkles?

Yes! Static or resting wrinkles form by repetitive facial movements over time. Botox helps to decrease the strength and number of repetitive movements and therefore can greatly slow down the rate at which resting lines appear on the face (if at all!).

Is it too late to start botox?

It’s really never too late to start. However, since botox works on dynamic wrinkles (those that form during movement), if static wrinkles are already present on the face at the beginning of your botox journey, they may or may not improve significantly.

Can I wear makeup after microneedling?

We recommend no makeup until day 5 post-microneedling. A mineral powder is ok before then, such as our tinted Perfect Powders that are great for building additional coverage, while also providing SPF sun protection.

Do I need to take “time off”  after microneedling?

Possibly just the first-day. You’ll notice a sunburn-like redness of the skin after your microneedling appointment. But after that, it’s very individualized in that many people feel totally comfortable returning to work, and their regular schedules, the day after treatment when redness subsides. We do offer Saturday and late-afternoon appointments as well.

I really want to do feminine rejuvenation, but it sounds so scary! Does it hurt?

Feminine rejuvenation uses a CO2 laser and is tolerated extremely well. There may be mild pressure felt from the probe that is inserted into the vaginal canal. This area does not have any receptors for heat, so the CO2 treatment is basically undetectable in terms of the typical heat that is felt in other areas such as the hands or face.

What is “the one” product I should use if I am on a limited budget?

You’ll get the most bang for your buck with a medical-grade retinol.  It is the most well-studied anti-aging ingredient and has many benefits when it comes to skin rejuvenation. From brightening and lightening, to collagen-stimulation and so much more. Three of our favorite options for retinol, in order of increasing strength are: 0.5% Retinol Serum, 1% Retinol Serum, and Perfect Change Serum.

Does daily skincare really matter?

Does it ever! In fact, if your budget is limited and you’re wondering what will make the most impact on your skin, my recommendation is to spend that money on the daily active ingredients (such as retinol) that are going to bring about change from within the skin. Doing a treatment or two per year without consistent use of daily actives is, in my opinion, basically a waste of money!

Will I look like a duck if I get my lips done?

The ‘ducky’ lip can result from too much filler, the wrong type of filler (for your lip and tissue anatomy) or certain filler techniques. Ducky lips are lips that have too much projection forward. It’s important to find a provider who will listen to your desires, assess your lips in the context of your entire face, and enhance your natural beauty (not give you the lip that they gave the last person).

How do you know how many units of botox I will need?

The dose of botox depends on the number of areas being treated, the muscle strength, and the desired effect. However, below is estimated units by area:

Forehead: 10-20 units
Between the eyebrows/Frown Lines (Glabella): 10-20 units
Crow’s feet/Brow Lift : 6-20 units/side
Lines around the nose: 5-10 units
Corners of the mouth/Jowl Improvement (DAO muscle): 3-6 units per side
Chin Dimpling: 4-10 units
Neck (Platysmal) bands: 25-50 units
Facial Slimming (Masseter): 15-40 units per side
Gummy Smile: 4-8 units
Lip Flip: 4-8 units
Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis) of Palms: 60-100 units
Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis) of Underarms: 60-100 units
Trapezius: 30-60 units per side

How long does a thread lift last?

Thread lifts can last 1-1.5 years. Multiple factors can influence this including age of the patient and baseline skin elasticity.

Can I exercise after I get my botox? Chemical peel? Microneedling? Thread lift?

  • Botox requires 4 hours off from exercise.
  • Chemical peel requires 1-2 days off from super sweaty exercise. Basically when visible sloughing of skin begins, exercise can be resumed.
  • Microneedling requires 24 hours off of sweaty exercise .
  • Thread lift requires 1 week of no exercise (other than walking).

Can I get Sculptra and filler at the same time?

Yes, depending on the areas being treated. In certain instances, it may be recommended to stage Sculptra and filler into different sessions. Your provider can help you come up with the best treatment plan.

What is the best treatment to help with neck rejuvenation?

The best for preventing signs of aging is microneedling, started early (20s-30s) and performed regularly! If signs of aging are already present, then the neck often requires multimodal therapy. A few of my favorites are botox, Radiesse, Skin Boosting Threads, Radiofrequency Microneedling, and CO2 laser. Your provider can help create a treatment plan that is optimal for you.

My hands look old! What can I do?

We’ve got you! Our Swift Scan CO2 laser will have your hand skin looker tighter, brighter and more youthful within a few sessions. If your hands are very thin with veins and tendons being very visible, we can also use filler in the back of the hands to give them a more plump and youthful appearance, minimizing tendons and veins in the process.
